Congo radio
project brochure
The simplest way to communicate the value of the project is to give
this brochure. It breifly explains what we are doing in Congo. The file
prints out as a tri-fold brochure. The "third" page is a two-sided
insert designed to be placed inside the trifold brochure.

Frequently Asked Questions
For those questions people typically have after reading the brochure,
our FAQ sheet has most of the answers. It digs more deeply, for those
interested in more details. It's also a good reference for anyone
making a presentation on the radio project. It can be used in letters,
handed out in groups, or placed in a display for people to pick up.

Congo survey
trip slide show
The 151 slide PowerPoint presentation of the 2006 survey trip is a fast
moving sharing of the highlights of the story. It requires a computer with
the software to show the slides. While it was created in Microsoft Office
Power Point, there are other software packages that can be used to display
it. For large groups, a projector is recommended.

the presenter and small images of each slide.

You can order a copy of a DVD

in 2006. It features the color, sounds, and music of the Congo church, as
well as presenting leaders of the Disciples Community in Congo telling of
their need for communication. To order a copy, e-mail editor@darfucan.org.

Congo Displays

There
are now 4 different displays available to attract interest and conversation
about the Congo Radio project. The largest has been used at the General
Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). That display fits
into a 10'x10' exhibit booth space.
Large Display
The
smaller displays are easier to build and use in local church settings and as
table displays at district and regional events. When used with the brochures,
they give a simple, easy to understand picture of why the radio network is
needed. The files contain all of the photos and captions in their correct
sizes to construct 3'x4' table top displays. They are in PDF format.
Both
the 2007 displays are available in a high resolution format. These are large
PDF files, but will make better displays. You will want to see the assembly
instructions to see how Fred put the displays together. These files can also
be used to print out photos and captions that could be used in creating your
own bulletin board or display.

The Radio
Mockup

An
excellent way to help those who need to “see” to understand is to show an
actual radio transceiver, similar to those to be installed. A less expensive
way is to add a cardstock mockup of a similar radio. If you download this
file and print it on cardstock, you will have a full sized mockup of the
radio which was actually used in Guatemala. While the actual transceivers installed
in Congo will most likely be different, the addition of the visual aid is
really striking.

Fundraising Materials
Below are copies of the actual
communications sent to our mailing list in 2009.
The alternative Christmas Gift
We invite everyone to give Christmas
gifts that were contributions to the Congo radio project in honor of the recipient
of the gift. The letter includes the form used to give the information
needed to confirm the gift, and the address to which the contribution and form
should be sent.

The
first fundraising letter
DARF/U-CAN mailed this fundraising
letter June 25, 2009. It includes the response card and envelope. The

DARF / U-CAN responds to an
opportunity
Just as the first letter was mailed,
we discovered that the Disciples in Congo had received a bid for 15 complete solar
powers Stations from an electronics firm in Kinshasa. The price was
excellent. DARF/U-CAN mailed this second fundraising letter July
2, 2009 to communicate the urgency of the moment. The Congo project brochure,
the response card, and return envelope were included with the letter.
